Doon the Water

Rothesay harbour area, originally uploaded by Grandpa John T.

We took a trip to the Isle of Bute last week, catching the ferry from Wemyss Bay to Rothesay. Grandpa Glasgow was born in a small tennement flat on the waterfront in the town and lived there until he was about 6yrs old before they moved to Carmyle in the East End of Glasgow.

David and I took a tour round Mount Stuart the home to the Marquess of Bute while the boys played in the gardens with their grandparents. I enjoy poking around old houses and this one was without a doubt the most fascintating one I’ve been in for long time, certainly worth a look if you are able to visit the island.

  2. Doon the water looks pretty. I want to go there! However there are other places that I must visit first… 😉
